The Mantua community is mourning the unexpected passing of Emily Mae Baker, who died on August 28, 2026, at the age of 28. Her death has left family, friends and others who knew her remembering a young woman whose life was marked by strong family connections, a deep love of animals and a wide range of interests.

According to her obituary published by Green Funeral Care, Emily was the beloved daughter of Scott and Tiffany Baker. She was also a cherished sister to Madelyn Anne Baker, Noah Scott Baker, Josiah Alexander Baker and Lydia Rae Baker.

Emily spent much of her childhood in Mantua and later graduated from Crestwood High School. Her passion for horses became an important part of her life and led her to Hocking College, where she studied Equine Science.

Animals brought Emily considerable happiness. She had a special affection for her cats, horses and her beloved dog, Monty. Her favorite horse, Cactus, held a particularly special place in her heart and reflected the meaningful bond she shared with animals.

Beyond her love for horses and pets, Emily had many interests that helped shape her personality. She enjoyed theater, reading, sewing and archery. Her fondness for okapis and How to Train Your Dragon also reflected some of the unique interests and things that brought her happiness.

Those closest to Emily will remember her not simply for the unexpected circumstances surrounding her death, but for the relationships and passions that defined her 28 years. Her family and friends are now left with memories of the time they shared with her and the many moments that made her presence meaningful.

Friends and relatives gathered to honor Emily during visitation on September 2 at Green Funeral Care in Mantua. A graveside service was held the following day, September 3, at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua Village.

Her passing has created a profound loss for those who loved her. While her life was far too short, the memories she created remain through her family, friendships and the interests she cherished.

Emily Mae Baker will be remembered as a beloved daughter, sister, friend and animal lover. Her connection to horses, animals and the people closest to her formed an important part of her story, leaving behind memories that her loved ones can continue to carry with them.
