WEYMOUTH, Massachusetts — The Weymouth community is mourning the passing of Julie Marie Williams, 50, a devoted registered nurse, daughter, sister, fiancé, and friend whose life was defined by faith, compassion, courage, and an extraordinary ability to bring joy to those around her.

Julie passed away peacefully at her Weymouth home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, surrounded by her family and closest loved ones following a courageous 12-year battle with cancer.

Her passing marks the loss of a woman remembered not only for her dedication to nursing but also for the warmth, humor, generosity, and faith she shared throughout her life.

Early Life and Family

Julie was born on August 14, 1976, in Boston, Massachusetts, and was raised in Braintree. She was the beloved daughter of Paul and Ann Marie (Rosano) Williams and the devoted sister of Reverend Matthew M. Williams, pastor of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Joseph Parishes in Quincy.

Julie was also engaged to her high school sweetheart, Frank Ruscio, with whom she reconnected after many years apart. Their relationship became a deeply meaningful part of her later years, and their engagement on July 16 was remembered as one of the happiest days of Julie’s life.

She treasured her large extended family and the traditions they shared, including holidays, weddings, birthdays, camping trips, sleepovers, and countless other gatherings that created memories she held close to her heart.

A Life Filled With Joy and Compassion

Those who knew Julie remembered her as someone who had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome and loved.

Her warm and engaging personality allowed her to form meaningful connections with family members, friends, neighbors, patients, and even people she had only recently met. She was known for her compassion, generosity, humor, and gift for storytelling.

Julie devoted more than two decades of her life to nursing, a profession that reflected her natural compassion and desire to care for others.

She began her nursing education at Labouré Nursing School before continuing her studies at Curry College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

For approximately 15 years, Julie worked at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she became known for her dedication, professionalism, and compassionate care.

For the patients and families she served, nursing was more than simply a career. It was an opportunity for Julie to make a difference in the lives of others.
