The St. Martinville, Louisiana, community is mourning the death of Camere Breaux, 19, who was killed in a vehicle collision in Lafayette early Saturday morning, September 5, 2026.

According to authorities, Breaux was traveling as a passenger in a Chevrolet Impala when the vehicle was involved in a crash near the intersection of La Rue France and W. Pinhook Road in Lafayette.

Investigators said the Impala was struck by a Ford F-150 reportedly being driven by Larry Hamilton Jr., 22, of Broussard. Authorities allege that Hamilton was fleeing law enforcement before the collision and ran a red traffic light before striking the Impala.

Hamilton was subsequently arrested in connection with the crash. The allegations and charges involved remain subject to the legal process, and any accused person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Breaux suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. His death at just 19 years old has left his family, friends, and members of the St. Martinville community facing a painful and unexpected loss.
