The Raymond community is mourning the death of Firefighter Eric Phillips, 44, who died Friday night after experiencing a medical emergency while responding to a call for service.

According to the Raymond Fire Department, Phillips suffered the medical emergency while he was on duty. Fellow firefighters and other first responders immediately began providing emergency assistance and efforts to save his life.

Despite those efforts, Phillips was transported to Exeter Hospital for additional medical treatment. He later died at the hospital.
